David Smith T.C.R.G. - Biography
Born and raised in Glasgow, I began dancing at the relatively late age of ten at one of the most prestigious Schools in Scotland, ran by Jean Taylor A.D.C.R.G and her daughter Sharon Taylor A.D.C.R.G. |

During my career with the Taylor Academy I won many Local, Regional and Qualifying Championships along with many top three placements at Great Britain, British National and All Scotland Championships and top five places at the All Ireland Championships and top ten at the World championships. I was also one of many Taylor students who went on to perform in the ‘Show’ side of Irish Dancing and I toured around Australia and New Zealand during the summer of 2000 performing with ‘The Spirit of Ireland’. I then went on to tour with Riverdance during the winter months of 2005 travelling around France, Holland and Switzerland. In 2007 and due to the closure of the Taylor Academy, my dancing career continued with the McCutcheon School under the direction of Noreen McCutcheon A.D.C.R.G and James McCutcheon A.D.C.R.G. During my short spell with the school I placed 3rd at the World Championships in my hometown of Glasgow and 3rd at the British National Championships, 2007, which marked the end of my competitive career. In May 2008 I successfully passed my T.C.R.G exam with honours and on July 9th 2008, I officially opened the David Smith School of Irish Dancing.
